APPEARANCE

Pining down Jonghyun's appearance is tricky given the fact that he is a metamorphmagus. Though he was born looking like the typical Korean, his ability gives him the magic to change his appearance at will. It's a skill the definitely takes advantage of, though he tends to keep his general size and shape true to biology. His hair is known to change color from day to day, or even hour to hour based on his emotions. He's usually in control of the changes, but intense emotions will often led to his hair giving his thoughts away. Favoring bolder colors despite school rules, he tends to stick with mixtures of blond and brown. His eyes often change as well, though his favorite colors stray towards shades of grey and amber. Only the strongest of emotions will change his eye color, though.

When it became apparent that Jonghyun wasn't growing past a certain point, he began using his ability to gain some height. All of his friends tease him for it, though, and he makes sure not to push it in case people start to question whether he's really as tall as he looks. Another rather permanent change he made was to his nose after it was broken in a fist fight; Jonghyun thought it was rather fitting, but after so many jabs at it being lopsided, he finally decided to fix it himself.

PERSONALITY

Jonghyun is often as flamboyant as his hair, and just as attention-seeking. He enjoys being the center of every situation, and this thirst for the spotlight tends to get him into trouble now and then. It was also what got him started as a Chaser early on in his stay at SMA and ultimately led him to becoming the Gryffindor Quidditch captain. That same thirst for attention has found Jonghyun on one side of several midnight duels and in the middle of countless pranks.

Though he often comes across as boisterous and loud, not to mention cocky, Jonghyun is a good guy at heart. His friends know a quieter side of him, though he still has trouble quelling his mischievous side even when relaxing. He's fond of sneaking off to the kitchens to socialize with the house elves (and score some good snacks) as well as wandering the grounds (sometimes after curfew). But he has a talent for charming his way out of trouble, flashing a bright smile or mentioning his family's status in order to wiggle out of tight spots.

BACKGROUND

In the opinion of most, Jonghyun was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His family was the wizard equivalent of old money, a long line of pure magical blood and successful witches and wizards. He grew up in a loving home where is parents spoiled Jonghyun and his older sister with the latest magical toys and the finest tutoring both in the magical arts and more mundane skills (he always hated math). He was socialized with children from other prominent families, but for the most part he preferred to play either with his sister or the Muggle children who lived down the street.

Secretly, Jonghyun always looked forward to the day he would be shipped off to school so he could escape the stifling environment of home. He loved and respected his parents, but always had the feeling of needing more out of life than, well, perfection. At SMA he found the kind of lifestyle he'd always wanted: structured freedom, with the chance to fight back against the structure in little ways without shaming his family. He also found the variety in student body to be thrilling, and early on in his stay he started socializing outside of his house unlike so many other Gryffindors.
